Tutorial | Day to Night Tangerine Tango Orange Look

Tangerine tango is one of the top runway trends for this spring and summer and I am totally loving it. Well, should I say I pretty much love incorporating corals and oranges into my makeup routine around this time of this year? Having been MIA on the youtubeland for about 5 months *ashamed, running away, I have put together a look that corporates a few of my favourite coral/orange products for a look that transforms from day to night.
DAY LOOK
products used |
Paul & Joe Matellic Eye Gloss (HERE)
MAC Follow Your Fantasy Eyeshadow (HERE)
Urban Decay Naked 2 in Bootycall & Tease
Nars Multiple Tint in Turks & Caicos (HERE)
Milani Liquif'eye in Dark Brown (also used in this look HERE)
Princess Lee Lashes in crisscross-8
Koji No. 100 Accent Eyelash Curler
Nars Laguna
Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Coral Reef (HERE)

I started off with a pretty simple day time look with the main focus on the metallic orange eyeshadow with a juicy coral lip. Its perfect for work/school everyday. To transform to the night time look, I thicken the liner with a jet black liquid eyeliner, slightly deepen and neutralize the cheek color for a strong bold orange lip.

NIGHT LOOK
products used |
MAC Interview Eyeshadow (HERE)
Loreal Lineur Intense Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black (HERE)
MAC Gingerly (HERE)
Revlon 750 Kiss Me Coral

HERE COMES THE TRANSFORMATION

Orange itself has a lot of dimensions and can easily corporate into many different looks. It is a color that instantly brightens the complexion while bringing together a fresh look. I always love my corals and oranges.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far! See you all soon xo.

Review | Hadanomy Collagen Cream

Not too long ago I claimed to be fallen off from the skincare review wagon but I have determined to be back. Reasonably, my skin varies from combination to dry-combination when I am in Hong Kong (more humid) and Boston (dry). It isn't easy to find a night skincare routine to suit both climates however I have found mine and would love to share that with all of you.

The Hadanomy Collagen Cream is claimed to be "icy cold to the touch, gives skin a refreshing feeling. It contains 1000mg of micro collagen, hyaluronic acid, acerola extract and honey". It is a thin, light weighted and jelly like texture that absorbs almost immediately with a tad of stickiness left on the skin. It could be bothersome for some peeps but I found it seals layered skincare pretty well. I find my skin still moist and lines plumped the next morning.
*For the reference, I use Shiseido Benefiance Enriched Balancing Softener and Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum underneath.

This collagen cream is well known in the Asian blogosphere. Contained a great variation of really good stuff for the skin like collagen and hyaluronic acid, this US$10 for 100mg of product seriously cannot be beat. As recommended to be used as a night cream,

this lotion does not work well with my primer or foundation. It creates the rubbed off residue aka a mess - the only downside about this product.

No, this is not an informercial! I usually don't bother to do reviews on moisturizers since I go through so many of them but this one really stands out among the bunch. You are also expected to see this in my upcoming monthly favourites video as well as updated skicare routine post :)

You can now get your hands on this for $10.70 from Sasa (HERE) or $18 from Yesstyle (HERE)

My Michelin 3 star experience | Jean George's, Trump Hotel NYC

Watching <Tower Heist> last night reminded me of "Oh! I never blogged about my Triumph Tower experience". What I meant was my restaurant experience at the Trump Tower of course. Luckily I can still find these pictures in the archive in my computer. To break down this 10 course meal,

| Cucumber & Raspberry Lychee Martini
| Egg Caviar
| Foie Gras Brulee, Slow-roasted Strawberries & Aged Balsamic Vinegar
| Sea Scallops, Caramelized Cauliflower, Caper-Raisin Emulsion
| Caramelized Foie Gras, Black Olive, Lychee & Brioche
| Young Garlic Soup with Thyme, Sauteed Frog Legs
| Turbot with Chateau Chalon Sauce
| Lobster Tartine, Lemongrass & Fenugreek Broth, Pea Shoots
| Duck Breast Topped with Cracked Jordan Almonds, Amaretto Jus
| Broiled Squab, Onion Compote, Corn Pancake with Foie Gras
| Desert Tastings - Stonefruit
| Desert Tastings - Chocolate - Bittersweet Chocolate Sorbet, Jean Georges Chocolate Lava Cake, Bitter Chocolate Curd, Caramelized Honey Ganache

It was an absolute wonderful experience. There were many dishes that stimulated my taste buds in such a new way of which really blew my mind. I never knew food could tast such multi-layered before. It was also much cheaper than eating at any michelin 3 star restaurants in Hong Kong or any part in Asia, per se. If you are looking for a more formal place for dinner for all types of events, I really recommend you try Jean George's at the Triump Hotel.

Review | Urban Decay 24/7 Travel Pencil Set - Naked

This set of 5 pencils is a great way to (finally) try out the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. To really try out these highly raved-about eyeliner pencils out, they were the only eye makeup I brought to the trip to Nepal (HERE) for the span of 8 days and all I needed.

From left to right -
Zero | zeolous matte black
Demolition | matte dark brown
Bourbon | brown with gold sparkle
Stray Dog | shimmer greyish brown
Underground | metallic taupe

The combination of these Urban Decay 24/7 pencils an be used alone or together create an complete eye look. I found Zero and Demolition are particularly good for lining the waterline since they are matte and dark enough. I believe these pencils get their hypes from being so long lasting and smooth. Compared to Milani Liquif'eye eyeliner pencils, the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils are less creamy and have a firmer consistency, of which make them more smudge proof. However you do need to let them set for a few seconds / run over them with the lightest touch of loose powder. Each pencil is 0.03oz - compared to a full size 0.04 oz and costs $18, this $32 set is a great deal.

Are they worth the hype? Yes & No.
Yes - they are creamy and very easy to apply, stay on all day and smudge proof.
No - they are not entirely crease proof if you were to use them as eyeshadow. Am I expecting too much? Perhaps, but together they easily create a complete eye look in seconds. They are also very creamy so often sharpening is needed.

I wanted to post this up asap because they are currently on a steeper discount on Hautelook for just $19.  That's $1 more than a regular full sized UD 24/7 pencils and a great chance to try out all these beautiful colors. Use the referral link HERE if you don't have a Hautelook account. The sales end tomorrow Wednesday 8AM EST.

Birthday Part 2 | Tea at W Hotel & Fat Angelos

Birthday day 2 involves getting tea (again) with relatives and Tedi, a 18 childhood friend birthday dinner and a crazy yet usual night out in Hong Kong til 530am. Yes nuts but I love it!

1 Austin Road West, Kowloon
W Hotel could possibly make it to the top list of my favourite tea places in Hong Kong! Really reasonably priced, conveniently located, and most importantly it has such an relaxing ambience. It was great seeing my aunt and uncle who were also by chance visiting Hong Kong from London. They are as sweet as usual. After a few hours of chatting and laughing, Tedi and I went to check in to our hotel, which is really close and has a similar view to the old apartment I used to live at.
Tidy up and we are headed to dinner! I was so happy that almost all my closest friends were there. Again, its been 8 years since last celebrated my birthday with them. I aimed for an affordable dinner so we could feel free to order whatever. The food was good and we all (hopefully) had a great time!
My beloved sister got me this cake that says "Happy Birthday to the Hottest Chick in the World" LOL #epic #birthday and a heart charm from Links of London. She got me the Sweetheart mini version from this birthday when we were in New York (HERE) Ah I love her to death. Then my other really good friend Vanessa gifted me a box of macarons freshly made by her dad. Freaking unbelievably awesome! They can seriously open a shop and I would be there every day. So yummy!
Then continuing was a night of dancing, drinking wine on the street (yes because we cannot do it in the States!), kareoke and puking (somebody not us!). Wrapping up with cheungfun and congee at 5:30am looking disgusting but tasting so freaking good (at that time). #drunkpeopleproblems #senseless

HAHA SO MUCH FUN! Check out my birthday part 1 with high tea at Sevva and the cute Angry Bird cake HERE.

Revlon Whimsical

Its peak spring meaning we all crave pastel colors, ya ya? Me no exception la, been buying a lot of warm toned pastel fun colors to welcome the warm weather. Revlon Whimsical is a pastel light baby blue color with hexagonal pink and blue, as well as small multi-colored glitter. It is supposed to be a dupe for Deborah Lippman's Glitter In the Air.

It is so pretty but requires so much work. What you see above is a combination of 3 coats of the nail polish, despite the time spent on digging out the glitter and waiting each jelly like layer to be dry. I'd say it at least requires 4 coats to look decent and whimsical *ahem*. I really adore the color and glitter combination. This light color would go even better on people who have pink undertone skin.

I have been eyeing Revlon Whimsical for such a long time - and was finally able to pick it up after seeing it "in person" at a Bath&BodyWorks. I know, strange place to get nail polishes, but they actually have almost everything on display. Retailed for $3.79

Do you think it is worth it?

Birthday Part 1 | Angry Birds Cake & High Tea at Sevva

So its time of the year once again to memorize the pain my mother went through X years back then wtf.   Today is already the 1st day of April but I have no shame of getting more "Happy Birthdays" from you, my fellow beloved bloggers. No I am just kidding! I am super thankful for what I have had and become today. I don't think I am that bad of a human being, ain't I? Happy freaking Birthday to me!

Kicking off the day with meeting up with my gorgeous friend LamLam for lunch. She got me a Maxim Angry Bird cake. Maxim, a local Hong Kong bakery, now sells about 4 different kinds of Angry Bird cakes. HAHA that just made my morning cutting its head. Inside its actually a really good chocolate mousse cake. Yumm too bad the 2 of us could only finish 1/4 of the head.
Other angry birds cakes, they even have the angry birds space cakes haha

As usual my vacation day in Hong Kong just goes without plans, Gigi and I randomly decided to pick Sevva as the weather looked semi decent at noon. Located on the 25th floor of Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Central, Sevva has a magnificent view overlooking the business district on the Hong Kong Island side and part of the Tsim Sha Tsui side across the glamourous Victoria Harbour.

 Sevva high tea
6-14A Chater Road, Central
Hong Kong
Then I saw the cake of my life... Look at how gorgeous it is! Maybe next year :) Went for Japanese with the family for dinner. Talk about keeping it low key!

It has been 8 years since last I celebrated my birthday in Hong Kong. It is always so much more fun when I do so since most of my friends and family live and work here. And when I do, I usually pull the average number of birthday cakes cut from 2 to 5 and my level of happiness from 30 to 110!

This year's birthday includes a weekend worth of an Angry Bird cake, Sevva afternoon tea, best friend Tedi coming to experience the local HK mid 20s culture, a 20 people dinner,  staying up and partying on the streets til 5am. I totally forgot I was getting old!
